Experience:

Scott Davis is the head of the US Mergers and Acquisitions group at Mayer Brown LLP. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities, and the problems that arise in corporation law from real or perceived conflicts of interest between a company's officers or directors and its shareholders. He has had a significant role in a number of important mergers and acquisitions involving public companies, many of them valued well in excess of $1 billion.

Scott has been recognized by Chambers Global as among the world's Leading Lawyers for Business and by Chambers USA as among America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Chambers Global noted his "outstanding depth of knowledge in securities and corporate law" and his "ability to get everybody back on track in deal negotiations." Chambers USA (2007) has praised him as "'smart and practical'" and "'a tremendous project manager who is the glue that holds a deal together.'" Chambers had earlier noted Scott's "extraordinary skills and excellent control of his team. . . . A problem solver who is strong on the law and in finding solutions, he is very thorough and easy to work with."

Scott was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (2007), PLC Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions Handbook (2007-08 edition) and Illinois SuperLawyers (2007), and was selected by Chicago Lawyer as one of Chicago's ten leading M&A lawyers (2005). Scott was also one of 134 US lawyers named a Client Service All-Star in 2006 by BTI Consulting Group for "delivering the absolute best client service."

Scott teaches corporate law at the University of Chicago Law School. He is also the Vice President of the Chicago Police Board, an agency appointed by the Mayor of Chicago to decide misconduct cases brought against Chicago police officers and to select candidates for Superintendent of Police when there is a vacancy in that office.

Scott has been a lawyer at Mayer Brown since 1977 and a partner since 1983. He joined the firm after serving as a law clerk to The Honorable Luther M. Swygert of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
