Mr. And Mrs. D moved in last July when a very bad storm caused a tree to fall on their home, causing it to have to be re-built. Mrs. D has been very upset about not being in her home, and the holidays were very hard for her. Sarah was speaking with Mrs. D one day in early December and she was in tears over not having her Christmas decorations, especially because of the young grandsons who live with her. Sarah had taken them a play station that BridgeStreet had in our warehouse, because theirs was destroyed.
Sarah went to a nearby dollar store which actually has very nice Christmas décor. She purchased ribbon, ornaments, and a holly ring and decorated her dining table. Sarah also purchased stockings for the whole family, filled them with goodies and hung them on the mantle. She bought a Christmas jar, and filled it with chocolate Christmas candies to set out on the coffee table. Sarah arranged a Christmas plate and two different types of cookies and set them out on the plate.
Mrs. D came home while Sarah was still decorating and hugged her and cried, and said that no one had ever been that good to her. Mrs. D was so thrilled with all of the items, and very touched that we thought of her and her family. |
