Ms. Rorer, a partner and health care attorney in the Business and Finance Department, received her B.A. in psychology from Miami University and her Master of Science in social work from the University of Tennessee. She later attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law where she received her J.D. in 1988. Upon graduation, Ms. Rorer was a law clerk for The Honorable S. Arthur Spiegel, Judge of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. She then joined another local law firm as an associate practicing in health care law. Ms. Rorer recently served as chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association Health Care Law Committee and is a member of the American Health Lawyers' Association and the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association. She serves on the Board of Trustees as vice president, and as a member of the Executive Committee of GLAD House, Inc. Ms. Rorer's health care law practice includes advising physician and institutional clients regarding Medicare and Medicaid compliance (including the application of Anti-kickback and Stark self-referral laws, the defense of false claims charges, the development and implementation of corporate compliance plans, and coding and billing issues); Medicare appeals; peer review and credentialing; hospital bylaws and regulations development; managed care provider contracting; physician-hospital arrangements; clinical trials and research, HIPAA and state patient privacy laws and risk management. She is the author of numerous articles and is a frequent speaker to client and professional groups on a wide variety of health care law topics, including most recently, "HIPAA Privacy Regulations" and "Recent Events in Medicare and Medicaid Enforcement Activity." Ms. Rorer is a member of the firm's Health Care Practice Area and the Professional Women's Resource Group (PWRG); for the PWRG, Ms Rorer is co-chairperson of its Breakfast Forum Committee.
