R. Sam Hankins, Jr. is Chief Financial Officer Outpatient Services Group of HCA, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services. He is responsible for HCA’s company wide operations of freestanding outpatient facilities to include ambulatory surgery centers and diagnostic centers. This also includes physician services to support both hospital and outpatient strategies.
Hankins is a Member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. His past board membership and community involvement include service to Children’s Place in Aiken, South Carolina and United Way.
Hankins began his career with the company in 1981 as Controller at CJW Medical Center in Richmond, Va. In 1983, he became CFO of Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C. After serving as CFO in several hospitals, he returned to CJW Medical Center as CFO in 1994. In 1996, Hankins became Chief Financial Officer of HCA’s Richmond Division. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the company’s Northeast Division in 1997 and took his most recent position as Chief Financial Officer of the West Florida Division in 1998.
Hankins earned his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and his bachelors degree in Accounting from Lynchberg College. Hankins and his wife, Faye have one son, Spencer, who is a student at Florida State University. Hankins was born on May 16, 1950. |
