Sally Susman is Executive Vice President for Global Communications at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. Ms. Susman directs the Company's global communications strategy for all of its brands, including Estée Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Origins, M·A·C, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Aveda, Jo Malone, Bumble and bumble, Darphin, Michael Kors, Rodan + Fields, American Beauty, Flirt!, good skinTM, grassrootsTM, Sean John Fragrances, Missoni and Donald Trump, the Fragrance. She is responsible for all media relations, employee communications and consumer relations for the Company. She joined the Company as Senior Vice President in 2000.
Previously, Ms. Susman held several high-level communications and government relations posts at American Express Company. During a decade of intensive growth and high visibility, she directed media relations, internal communications and governmental affairs for all of American Express' international operations and expanded its online presence in the United States. From 1995 to 1997, she was based in London, where she was responsible for corporate communications and government relations for American Express throughout Europe.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Susman spent eight years in government service focused on international trade issues. Her positions included Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs in the U.S. Department of Commerce and Legislative Assistant on Capitol Hill for the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
Ms. Susman holds a B.A. from Connecticut College and spent a year studying abroad at the London School of Economics. She has taken business courses at the Wharton School's Aresty Institute of Executive Education.
Ms. Susman is a Commissioner on the New York City Commission on Women’s Issues, a position to which she was appointed by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. She also serves on several boards of directors, including Parsons School of Design and The National Partnership for Women and Families. Ms. Susman is a Trustee of Connecticut College and a Board Director of Equity Properties, the nation's largest publicly held office building owner and manager. |
