Since June 2003, Ruth E. Ross, PhD (University of Chicago, 1992) has held the title of Director of Clinical Trials Research at Advocate Health Care. She has over 15 years of applied experience in a wide-range of clinical research activities, including project design and methods, database design, data collection and management, and data analysis. She has overseen outcomes and clinical research projects of national and multi-site design on topics from both behavioral and clinical heath care disciplines. Between 1987 and 1994, she was a student and professional participant in various academic and research activities at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago. Dr. Ross completed post-doctoral work (1992-1994) in health care organizational ethics at the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. From 1994-1998 she held an appointment as Assistant Research Professor, College of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, University of Illinois at Chicago. From 1998 to 2003, Dr. Ross was the Director of Clinical Research at the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch. In that capacity she had oversight of all aspects of the clinical research activities at CINN, including clinical trials and outcomes research. Between 1999 and 2001, Dr. Ross completed a two-year NIH-funded fellowship as a teaching scholar in research ethics at the College of Medicine, Department of Medical Education, University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Ross also serves as a member of the Education Committee of the Council of Ethical Organizations, Health Ethics Trust, Alexandria, Virginia. She has numerous publications in diverse areas and has lectured on those topics.
