Russell Kennett is head of State Street Global Markets in Asia-Pacific with regional responsibility for foreign exchange, equities and fixed income trading, securitization and operations. He currently acts as chairman of State Street's Asia-Pacific Executive Board. In the Asia Pacific region, State Street Global Markets operates out of bank office networks in 6 countries, namely Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Korea and Australia, with over 150 employees.
Mr. Kennett joined State Street in 1993 in the treasury group and became General Manager of the Australian treasury business in 1994 and Managing Director of State Street's Sydney branch in 1996. His responsibilities were expanded beyond Australia to include State Street's treasury operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore in 1998, followed by Japan and Korea in 2000.
With over 20 years experience in trading, advising and marketing treasury products in the Asia Pacific region, Mr. Kennett held positions at Macquarie Bank for twelve years before joining State Street. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne.
Mr. Kennett is a director of the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) and a member of State Street's Australian Operating Board, State Street Global Markets' Executive Management Group and the management team of State Street Associates, LLC.
