Russ Harms is the Chief Financial Officer - Central Group of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services. He is responsible for HCA's operations in Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, Tennessee and Virginia, which currently includes 55 hospitals.
From 2001-2005, Harms served as CFO of the MidAmerica Division, where he was responsible for all operations and development activities for 14 facilities in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. Among his duties were coordination of the development of annual facility and division business plans and direct supervision of staff with functional responsibilities in finance, information systems, reimbursement, decision support and staffing.
Harms began his career with HCA in 1983 as a controller for Spring Branch Medical Center in Houston. In 1986 he became CFO of Scott General Hospital in Georgetown, Ky. From 1986 through 2000, he served as CFO at both the hospital and division levels.
Harms is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned an M.B.A. in finance in 1997 from Loyola University of Chicago and holds a bachelor's in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Harms serves as Board Member and Treasurer for the United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee and is also a Red Cross Board Member.
He and his wife Elvia reside in Franklin, Tenn.
