Russ M. Strobel is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Nicor Inc. and Nicor Gas and serves on the board of directors of both companies. Strobel became chairman of Nicor and Nicor Gas in November 2005; chief executive officer of Nicor in March 2005; chief executive officer of Nicor Gas (November 2003); and president of Nicor and Nicor Gas (October 2002). He also served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Strobel’s career with Nicor began in 2000. Before joining Nicor, Strobel practiced law in Chicago.
Strobel is a 1974 graduate of Northwestern University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. He earned his juris doctor magna cum laude from the University of Illinois in 1977, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.
Strobel is a director of the American Gas Association and a member of its Executive Committee, a director of the United Service Organizations (USO) of Illinois, Inc., and a member of the advisory committee of the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is also a member of The Commercial Club of Chicago, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago and The Economic Club of Chicago. |
