Royce L. Watkins, with over 35 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, started his pharmaceutical career in 1971 with Parke-Davis and Company. Mr. Watkins served as a Sales Representative in East Texas and Southwest Arkansas. While at Parke-Davis, he won several regional awards and two national awards for outstanding sales achievement. Mr. Watkins was promoted to Hospital Representative, where he focused on bids, biological products and surgical dressing product sales. Mr. Watkins' pharmaceutical career continued with Russ Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Russ was a start-up company based in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Watkins was one of the original sales representatives hired and his territory included Louisiana, Southeast Arkansas and East Texas. He also served in the capacities of Field Sales Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager and National Sales Manager. Mr. Watkins' responsibilities included all sales production, recruiting, sales training, manager training, sales administration, trade relations, managed care, sampling and distribution. Throughout Mr. Watkins' career at Russ, he never failed to exceed sales forecasts. Russ Pharmaceuticals was acquired by the Ethyl Corporation in March, 1989. The name was changed to Whitby Pharmaceuticals and two years later the headquarters moved to Richmond, Virginia. Later, Whitby was acquired by UCB Pharma and the corporate offices were moved to Atlanta, Georgia. When Mr. Watkins left Whitby in 1991 to join Scandipharm, Inc., there were over 120 field sales representatives that he managed through four Regions and 12 Districts. As one of the founders of Scandipharm, Inc., Mr. Watkins served as Director of Sales and Marketing and was responsible for the development of the initial Sales and Marketing Department. In this position, he was responsible for recruiting and training the field sales team, stocking Scandipharm products in the wholesale and pharmacy distribution networks and launching the marketing plan to the Cystic Fibrosis Centers nationally. Under Mr. Watkins' sales leadership, Scandipharm more than doubled the sales forecasts of the original business plan for each of the first five-year projections. Mr. Watkins holds a B.B.A. degree in Marketing and Finance from Texas A&M University (formerly East Texas State University) in Commerce, Texas. He has been married to his wife, Sandra, for over 40 years and they enjoy their free time with four grandsons. |
