Prior to joining Akamai's Board of Directors, Ronald Graham served as an Akamai Board of Advisors member, and offers a wealth of expertise and experience in computer science, mathematics, and engineering. He is the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Endowed Chair of Computer and Information Science at the University of California at San Diego, Chief Scientist of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, and former Chief Scientist for AT&T Labs.
Previously, Dr. Graham served as director of information sciences at AT&T Bell Laboratories for more than thirty years. He has held numerous professorships in mathematics and computer science with institutions such as Stanford University, Princeton University, and California Institute of Technology, as well as leadership positions among professional organizations including the American Mathematical Society, National Academy of Sciences, the Mathematical Association of America and American Association of the Advancement of Science. Dr. Graham's current mathematical interests include combinatorics, number theory, graph theory, discrete and computational geometry, and theoretical computer science, and he belongs more than 40 editorial boards in these disciplines.
Dr. Graham holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, as well as a B.S. in physics from the University of Alaska. He has won numerous awards in the field of mathematics, including the Polya Prize in Combinatorics and the Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the American Mathematical Society. |
