Ronald Taylor Biography :

Ronald L. Taylor is the retired Chief Executive Officer of DeVry Inc. and currently is Senior Advisor to the company and a member of the DeVry Inc. Board of Directors. Taylor co-founded Keller Graduate School of Management (KGSM) in 1973. In 1987, KGSM acquired the assets of DeVry Inc. Today, DeVry Inc. (NYSE: DV) owns and operates DeVry University, Keller Graduate School of Management, Ross University, Becker Professional Review and Stall Review for the CFA. It is one of the largest publicly owned, degree-granting, higher education companies in North America.

Taylor earned his master's degree in business administration from Stanford University in 1971 and graduated, cum laude, with a bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1966.

Taylor is a peer reviewer and Consultant/Evaluator for The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Taylor also currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and is a member of the Hanson Center Community Advisory Board.

For 18 years, Taylor served as chairman of the proprietary schools advisory committee for the Illinois Board of Higher Education. Taylor was a member of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Management Board for 4 years.

Taylor was an eight-year elected member, finance committee chairman and president of the School Board for Elementary School District 181 in Hinsdale, Illinois. For over three years, he was state chair of the U.S. Department of Defense Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Between 1966 and 1969, Taylor was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served a one-year tour in Viet Nam. Taylor was assistant chief of staff for communications-electronics at Ft. Leonard Wood following his tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, with Oak Leaf Cluster, in 1969. He was also awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service in 1998.
