Mr. Reed is a principal of the firm Westlake Reed Leskosky. He has been with the firm for more than twenty years. A senior designer, a Fellow of the AIA, and a 2001 recipient of the Cleveland Arts Prize, Ronald A. Reed has been involved with corporate, government, cultural, educational and medical project types with an experience range including programming, planning, building design, interior design, and administration. His expertise in the field of corporate and workplace design resulted in his designation as a Juror for Best of NEOCON Chicago in 2000-2004 as well as IIDEX Toronto in 2002 and 2004. His work has been recognized by numerous awards, publications and galleries and exhibited in the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. In addition to having actively served on the boards for Spaces Gallery in Cleveland and the Ohio Ballet, Mr. Reed has frequently acted as a guest critic for the fifth year urban design studio of the School of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kent State University.
He has produced a distinguished body of work, consistent in design excellence, recognized by numerous AIA awards,and widely published in national design journals. What is truly noteworthy, even among projects that are relatively modest in scale and budget, is that he achieves a sense of immeasurable elegance and dignity through a thoughtful hand. He achieves an integration of artistry in architecture that serves as national paragon, working with craftsmen to find innovative, painterly interpretations of common materials. His breakthrough lamination of textiles and glass...his pioneering use of automotive paint on wood and mixed metals...his revolutionary use of medium density fiberboard as an exposed finish...his adherence to strict environmental building principles. . .Mr. Reed’s explorations are catalysts for product development and application across the country.
