Ron is a Manager in Brown Smith Wallace’s Risk Services practice, where he leads the IT Security & Privacy practice and has responsibility for providing risk management and consulting services to the firm’s clients. The services specifically provided include security audits, penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, security compliance reviews (FFIEC, PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GLBA, etc.), computer forensics and incident response engagements, and information privacy and protection evaluations. Ron’s 16+ years of experience also include more than 5 years in senior-level technical leadership roles at a major financial services firm, as well as, positions in IT audit, internal audit, and consulting for several international organizations. Ron’s strengths, including his leadership, communication, analytical ability, technical expertise and fast response time, has assisted clients achieve measurable results. Ron’s past accomplishments include: Provided overall leadership on numerous IT audits for a variety of technologies for clients in diverse industries. Responsibilities included development of audit programs, communication of audit results, execution of risk assessments, and assistance with strategic audit planning. Led and performed the execution of Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70 Type 1s and Type 2s for numerous organizations, including a health claims provider, electronic deposit processor, data hosting provider, etc. Led a 5,000 hour IT Sarbanes-Oxley management assistance project for a $1 billion leading independent supplier of advanced component repairs for gas turbine engines with global operations and a 500 hour IT Sarbanes-Oxley management assistance project for a $1 billion cable and wire manufacturer with global operations. Conducted numerous network (LAN, WAN, VLAN, WLAN) vulnerability assessments and web application penetration tests using manual techniques and automated tools for various clients in the public industry and governmental sectors. Ron is a member of the AICPA, the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS), the Missouri Society of CPAs, ISACA, Institute of Internal Auditors, Infragard, International High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), Information Systems Security Association (ISSA, Institute of Computer Forensic Professionals (ICFP), and the MSCPA's IT Committee. He is also active in several community organizations in the St. Louis area. Ron is a graduate of the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign, with a degree in Accountancy. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. He and his family reside in Edwardsville, IL. |
