Ron Saxton’s practice focuses on business law and utility law, with emphasis on major corporate initiatives, regulatory issues, project development, and counseling senior management. Ron served as Chair of Ater Wynne from 1990 to 2001.
His clients include companies in the manufacturing, energy, utility, cosmetic, and food processing industries. He has a substantial practice related to the development, financing, and operation of energy projects.
Ron was elected to the Portland Public Schools Board in 1997 and served as chair from 1998 to 2000. He is a member of the Board of the Portland Business Alliance, Associated Oregon Industries and is active in a number of local and state organizations. He was the founding president of the Portland Public Schools Foundation. In 2006, he won the Republican nomination for Governor.
Born in Albany, Oregon, Ron graduated from West Albany High School, Willamette University and the University of Virginia law school. He is married to Lynne Hume Saxton and they have a college-age son, Andy.
Ron enjoys fly-fishing, gardening and camping. He is active in Oregon politics and has appeared on the KATU (ABC television affiliate) evening news as a political commentator and wrote a regular column for the Medford Mail Tribune.
