Title & Role: In his role as Vice-President and Director of Education, Ron is responsible for overseeing both the online and onsite training programs provided by Goldleaf to its clients. Background: Ron Harman has conducted ACH and software training sessions throughout the country - from California to Florida and from Michigan to Texas. His training audiences have involved dozens of financial institutions like Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh and First Tennessee Bank in Memphis, as well as numerous corporations and special interest groups including regional ACH associations.
Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania, Ron was raised on a farm that his family still maintains near the small town of Tionesta. The day after graduating from Penn State University, Ron began working for First United National Bank where he subsequently held positions as Teller, Internal Auditor, Operations Officer, Compliance & Training Officer, and Assistant Vice-President. While employed at the bank, Ron wrote articles and procedures that were published in state and national banking publications and used by several banking organizations, including the Federal Reserve Bank, American Bankers Association, Pennsylvania Bankers Association, American Institute of Banking, and Banker's Hotline. His training programs were recognized and formally adopted for use by such groups as the Bank Administration Institute and 1st Financial Training Services. Ron graduated from the three-year Central Atlantic School of Banking at Bucknell University and received various banking degrees from the American Institute of Banking (AIB). He was actively involved in the AIB's educational programs and served on its Board of Directors. In 1991, Ron fulfilled the necessary requirements through the Independent Bankers Association to become a Certified Bank Internal Auditor. He received the Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) designation in 1999, when he successfully completed the annual examination administered by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA).As a part-time freelance writer, Ron has had articles published in numerous magazines and newspapers, including several national country music publications. His involvement in country music and dancing-along with the encouragement of a close friend and country singer-resulted in his relocation to Nashville, Tennessee, in early 1998. From that time until March of 2004, Ron was employed as a software trainer and support technician for TROY Group's ACH origination and processing programs. He was also involved with software enhancements, testing, and documentation.
