Ron Barnes joined McCauley, Nicolas & Company, LLC in 1972 and was admitted as a Member in 1980. He serves on the Executive Committee and is a member of the Tax and Consulting Divisions of the firm. Ron is President of North Shore Development, LLC, owner of the McCauley Nicolas Centre, a five-story office building in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and President of Capital Asset Management, LLC, a registered investment advisor; and a Colonel (retired) in the U.S. Army Reserves. He served as managing partner of MNC for a decade, from 1995 through 2005. Industry Experience Ron has over 30 years experience in public accounting. He concentrates in taxation, mergers and acquisitions, financial and estate planning, and general business consulting for a broad spectrum of industries Education Ron earned a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University in 1972 and is licensed to practice as a CPA in Indiana and Kentucky. A Certificate of Education Achievement in Personal Financial Planning (PFS) was earned from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 1995. In 2000, Ron obtained a Series 65 Security License. He is a graduate of Leadership Southern Indiana and Leadership Louisville. Professional and Community Activities Professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Indiana CPA Society, the Kentucky Society of CPAs, and the International Association of Financial Planners. In addition, Ron serves on the Board of Directors of PKF North American Network, an association of legally independent firms. Throughout his professional career he has been active in numerous civic and community organizations, including the Southern Indiana YMCA, Rotary, Bridgepoint Goodwill Industries, Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, Leadership Southern Indiana, IU Alumni Association, IUS Alumni Association, IUS Business and Economic Advisory Council, Jeffersonville Economic Development Commission, Southern Indiana Estate Planning Council, Madison Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. He was president of most of these organizations. Many awards and honors have been presented to Ron, including the Sagamore of the Wabash in September 2002, the highest honor which the Governor of Indiana bestows; the Leadership Southern Indiana Servant Leader Award in May 2001; the IUS Distinguished Alumni Award in May 2001; and the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana Gold Leaf Volunteer Award in April 2001. Ron is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Kentucky Colonel. He received numerous achievement and commendation medals throughout his military career, some more than once. Since his retirement, he has been selected to serve as a U. S. Army Reserve Ambassador, an appointment by the Chief of the Army Reserves, Washington, D.C.
