Rolf A. Meyer was elected to the Board of Directors at the AGM in 1998. He chairs the Compensation Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. Rolf A. Meyer has been a member of the Boards of UBS and its predecessor, Union Bank of Switzerland, since 1992. He was Chairman and CEO of Ciba Specialty Chemicals Ltd. until November 2000. Today, he holds several board memberships. He first joined Ciba-Geigy Group in 1973 as a financial analyst, and subsequently became Group Company Controller in Johannesburg, South Africa, Head of Strategic Planning and Control in Basel, Head of Finance and Information Systems in Ardsley, N.Y., and later Chief Financial Officer of the Group. After the merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz to create Novartis, he led the spin-off of Ciba Specialty Chemicals. Mr. Meyer graduated in Political Science (Ph.D.) and holds a Master of Business Administration (lic.oec. HSG). He was born on 31 October 1943. He is a Swiss citizen. |
