Mr. Timm practices complex commercial litigation, with a focus on environmental, insurance coverage, contract, securities and antitrust litigation.
Experience
Mr. Timm has handled complex litigation of several different types, including:
Both governmental and private party claims of environmental contamination from industrial sites and municipal landfills;
Claims for breach of highly complex contracts for the purchase of coal for power plants in southeastern Michigan and the Chicago area;
Claims against insurers for coverage for claims of environmental contamination;
Claims of massive securities fraud on behalf of class of 15,000 customers;
Claims against accountants, bank officers, securities brokers and insurance companies by a federal bank insurance fund to recover losses caused by unauthorized trading in securities by a bank official;
Antitrust claims involving asserted monopolization of the world market for wheeled armored vehicles; asserted monopolization of the market for ratchet wrenches; and monopolization of the market for cellular telephone service.
Trade secret claims regarding computer programming.

Mr. Timm's thesis at Harvard was on antitrust aspects of territorial restraints in international technology licenses.
Electrical generating technology in responding to claims by an electrical power company that its generating facilities experienced force majeure situations which excused purchase of coal from our client;

Computer technology in defending against a claim of misappropriation of confidential information by a computer programmer;
