Robin Wicks was appointed Chief Operating Officer Europe (Holiday Inn Family of Brands) in June 2005. A member of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) EMEA management committee Wicks is responsible for operations franchising and development in continental Europe. Wicks also manages the IAHI relationship in EMEA.
Previous to this position Wicks was Senior Vice President Franchising for Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) where he was responsible for the Group's franchising strategy. He also managed and developed relationships with the company's franchisee community.
Whilst with IHG Wicks also held the position of Senior Vice President Marketing Sales and Reservations for EMEA since August 1999. His responsibilities included the overall marketing and sales of Six Continents Hotels' full portfolio of brands extending to more than 550 hotels in 49 countries.
He also held the post of Chief Operating Officer for Holiday Inn in Europe and Africa. Here his remit was to drive operations in and service delivery to the region's Holiday Inn hotels from October 1998 to August 1999.
In April 1997 Wicks was named Vice President of Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts in EMEA and built a dedicated brand team encompassing marketing operations technical services and development. Prior to this from May 1995 he was Vice President of Operations for company-managed hotels across the region.
Before joining Holiday Inn in January 1993 as Vice President of Worldwide Sales for EMEA Wicks had gained a diverse background that included a variety of senior sales marketing and operational positions in the UK travel and airline industries.
Wicks graduated from Trinity College Cambridge in 1974 with an MA in Modern Languages. |
