Robert (Bob) Murphy is Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, responsible for financial accountability for the company’s U.S.-based operating groups, which collectively employ 45,000 employees in the U.S., U.K., Sweden and South Africa, and generate annual sales in excess of $10 billion.
Murphy returned to his current CFO position as a result of significant company growth, after serving for two years as President of BAE Systems Technology Solutions Sector, a provider of tailored, integrated technical and professional services solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense, Federal Civilian government, and Homeland Security markets.
He originally joined BAE Systems in 1999 as Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer following 18 years at General Electric, where he provided financial leadership for several major divisions including Land Combat Systems, Group Sourcing, and Military Engines Operations for GE Aircraft Engines. Previously, he held various financial management positions with Martin Marietta.
Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. During his career, he has also completed the two year GE Financial Management Program, and other advanced financial and senior leadership programs. He is a member of the BAE Systems Inc. Board of Directors, and is based in the company’s headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. |
