As Director of Citi’s Global Wealth Advisory Services, Bob reports to the CEO of Citi Global Wealth Management, and his responsibilities encompass many of the advisory services provided around the world to clients of The Citi Private Bank and Citi Smith Barney. These include the firm’s high-net-worth advisory services, banking and lending, investment banking for mid-tier and privately held businesses, retirement and education planning, Citi Family Office, Citi Trust and the technology applications used for the firm’s financial planning services.
Across these roles, Bob sees his primary responsibility as helping the firm transform itself toward a broader culture of wealth management by embracing a more comprehensive view of the client and the client’s personal and financial objectives.
Taking a broader perspective in order to drive change has been a continuing theme in Bob’s 22 years with Citi Smith Barney and its predecessor firms, and even before. It started at Franklin and Marshall College, where he graduated in 1981 with a degree in Economics and English. After beginning his career with Capital Analysts, a wealth management firm in Philadelphia, Bob joined Shearson-American Express, a predecessor firm of Citi Smith Barney, as a Financial Consultant in 1983. He quickly grew a clientele that placed him in the top ranks of the firm. In the years that followed he was tapped repeatedly to lead growth and turn around flagging operations in New York and New England. Most recently, Bob served as Director of Wealth Management for Citi Smith Barney, leading a number of operating groups and driving the firm’s evolution toward wealth management.
Bob is a frequent speaker to business and investor groups on the subject of wealth planning and the integration of wealth and family issues. He has been quoted in trade and business media including Worth magazine, Robb Report, On Wall Street, Registered Rep, CNBC, and The Wall Street Journal.
He is a member of the Citi Management Committee, and is on the board of Global Head Strategies. He also serves on Citi’s Global Wealth Management Asset and Liability Committee, as well as The Global Hedge Strategies Board. Bob is a member of the board of Taybandz Inc., a nonprofit company that funds pediatric cancer research, and is an active fundraiser for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
