Robert M. Siper is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's New York office. He is a member of the Employee Benefits Department and the Compensation and Benefits Advisory Practice.
Prior to joining the Firm, Bob worked for a Big Four accounting firm, where his responsibilities included consultation on qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation plans, both equity non-equity-based programs, fringe benefit plans, and compensation planning for executives, from both a design and regulatory compliance perspective. He has approximately 22 years of consulting experience in this area.
Bob performed consulting for domestic and international engagements in the pension and compensation planning area for numerous Fortune 500 clients.
Bob served as an engagement partner for a multinational Fortune 25 client in the acquisition of a key competitor and the cost implications of the change in control for more than 1000 executives. Bob advised the same client on mitigation strategies that reduced or eliminated the change in control cost.
Bob also served as an engagement partner for a multinational financial services company for an assignment related to measurement of financial statement expense for early adoption of FAS 123. He served as an engagement partner for numerous assignments involved in transaction-based events for mergers, acquisitions, bankruptcies, divestitures, and corporate philosophy development related to equity and non-equity compensation programs.
Bob is currently a member of the American Bar Association, Tax Section, the New York State Bar Association, Employee Benefits Section. He also served on the board of directors for the American Benefits Council and the Legislative and Regulatory Committee of the ESOP Association.
