Dr. Robert Kirkman was appointed Biomira’s President and Chief Executive Officer on September 5, 2006. Dr. Kirkman was formerly the acting President and CEO of Seattle-based Xcyte Therapies, Inc and prior to that, he was that company’s Chief Business Officer and Vice President. Before joining Xcyte, Dr. Kirkman had his own private consulting practice. Prior to this, he was Vice President, Business Development and Corporate Communications for Protein Design Labs, Inc.
Dr. Kirkman was also Chief, Division of Transplantation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA from 1992 to 1998 and was a staff member there from 1981 to 1998. Dr. Kirkman holds an MD degree from Harvard Medical School and a BA in Economics from Yale University.
