Dr. Andersen has 35 years of experience in the intellectual property ("IP") field. He served as IP counsel for 3 major international corporations over a period of approximately 25 years. For the past 6 years he has been in private practice with RatnerPrestia where he is a senior member of RP's Chemical Practice Group. While serving as corporate Director of Intellectual Property, Dr. Andersen managed as many as 21 IP attorneys. He was responsible for handling or supervising all of the IP work for diverse chemical businesses, such as pharmaceutical, agricultural, peroxygen and phosphorus chemicals, and for such equipment businesses as food processing, oil well and defense equipment. Prior to becoming Director of IP Law, Dr Andersen was Division Patent & Trademark Counsel for an agricultural chemicals business, and spent several years as Foreign Patent and Trademark counsel for a diversified chemical and consumer products company. At RatnerPrestia, Dr. Andersen has focused his practice on patent prosecution and opinion work in the areas of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Dr. Andersen holds a Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco , an affiliate of the University of California at Berkeley. He concentrated his pre-pharmacy undergraduate education in biological sciences and organic chemistry at the University of California at Berkeley, before completing his Doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of California Medical Center, College of Pharmacy. Dr. Andersen has been an active member of a number of professional organizations, including holding leadership positions in several. He served on the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Owners and the Philadelphia Patent Law Association. He also served as a member and Chairman of the IP Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of several committees of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Section of the American Bar Association. Dr. Andersen is a member of RatnerPrestia's Chemical / Biotech / Pharmaceutical Group. |
