JPMorgan Chase & Co. Robert I. Lipp, a member of Accenture's board of directors since October 2001, is senior advisor at JPMorgan Chase & Co. In this position Mr. Lipp works with the executive management team, advising the firm on a broad range of business issues and strategic initiatives, both domestic and international. He is also involved in shaping and teaching the firm’s senior leadership development programs.
In September 2005, Mr. Lipp retired from his position as executive chairman of the board of St. Paul Travelers. He was the former chairman and chief executive of its predecessor company, Travelers Property Casualty Corporation. Mr. Lipp held various senior executive positions at Citigroup and its predecessor companies since 1986, retiring in 2001 as vice chairman of Citigroup and chairman and chief executive officer of its Global Consumer Business.
Mr. Lipp began his career in banking at Chemical Bank (now a part of JPMorgan Chase & Co.), where he rose to the position of president and director, leaving there in 1986 to join what ultimately became Citigroup.
Mr. Lipp serves as a director of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and St. Paul Travelers. He is also chairman of the Executive Committee of Trustees at Williams College, a trustee of Carnegie Hall and a director of the New York City Ballet.
Mr. Lipp received his undergraduate degree at Williams College, his M.B.A. at Harvard and his J.D. at New York University.
Mr. Lipp is married to Martha Berman, and together they have five children.
