Mr. Stachler joined Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP in 1957 after graduating from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He became a partner in the firm in 1965 and served as chairman of the firm's Litigation Department from 1970 until August of 2000. He currently serves as of counsel to the firm. Mr. Stachler's practice has focused exclusively in the area of litigation, with extensive experience in commercial litigation and sports law. In his 50 years of practice, he has built the well-deserved reputation as one of the top litigators in the United States. In Mr. Stachler’s engagement in complex commercial litigation matters, he has represented many of the major corporations in the United States and elsewhere in a variety of cases, including anti-trust, class and derivative actions, construction cases, insurance disputes, sports cases, accounting and law firm malpractice claims, as well as a full spectrum of corporate and commercial litigation. He has represented in litigation numerous sports celebrities, as well as the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. Mr. Stachler served as principal trial attorney in litigation involving the Zimmer Nuclear Power Plant and has represented special litigation committees of major corporations throughout the United States in connection with controversies involving construction of nuclear power plant facilities. He has also represented officers and directors of corporations involved in the construction of such facilities. Mr. Stachler is a Fellow Emeritus in the American College of Trial Lawyers and served on the Board of Regents of the College from 1985 to 1989. He is a past president of the Cincinnati Bar Association. Mr. Stachler is the former chairman of the Federal Bar Examining Committee of the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Western Division in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a Senior Life Member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference and a Master Emeritus of the Bench of the Potter Stewart American Inn of Court, and a member of the OhioState, Cincinnati and Federal Bar Associations. Mr. Stachler currently is a member of the American Judicature Society and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is very active in the area of dispute resolution being a member of the National Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association and an At-Large Panel Member of Distinguished Neutrals for Ohio for the CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution. Mr. Stachler was on the Board of Visitors at the College of Law at the University of Cincinnati and currently is a guest lecturer at local universities, bar associations, the American Arbitration Association and the National Business Institute. He has been active in numerous community and charitable organizations, serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees of many organizations, both locally and around the country. Mr. Stachler has received numerous awards and honors during his many years in the practice of law. He has been included in the Woodward-White listing of The Best Lawyers in America since its inception in 1983, and in 2002-2003 was honored for being listed for 20 years. He was also nominated for Fellowship in the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers. In 2001-2002 Mr. Stachler was chosen one of America’s Top Lawyers in Business and Sports Litigation. Mr. Stachler was honored with inclusion in the Cincinnati Magazine listing of Ohio Super Lawyers as one of the Top 100 Ohio Super Lawyers from 2004 through 2008 from the Cincinnati region.
