Bob joined Aurora in September 2005. Immediately prior to joining Aurora, Bob was Director of Compliance at Sterling Financial Investment Group. Bob held the position of General Counsel and Director of Compliance for the C.E. Unterberg Towbin, a boutique investment banking firm specializing in high tech companies. Before joining Unterberg, he was the General Counsel and Director of Compliance for Credit Lyonnais Securities, USA Inc. until December 1997. Prior to Credit Lyonnais Securities (USA) Inc., he was General Counsel and the head of compliance for Fundamental Brokers Inc, which was the largest international-dealer broker in U.S. Government Securities in the world. Mr. Abrams' first job as General Counsel and Compliance Director was with Glickenhaus & Co., a firm that deals in money management and in municipal bonds. Prior to his positions on Wall Street, he was an associate attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission in the division of Corporate Regulation where he was chiefly involved in the area of the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935 after which he was with a company that was regulated by that Act, American Electric Power Co. (AEP). Bob has also been an Associate Attorney at the New Jersey law firm of Sill Cummis Radin and Tischman. He was involved in underwriting for new issues and other securities including Blue Sky issues. Prior to his entrance into the law, he was a practicing economist for the American Gas Association in Arlington, Virginia. For 15 years, he has made his services available as an arbitrator for the FINRA (formerly NASD), NYSE, American Arbitration Association, and MSRB. From time to time, Bob has also taught securities and business law. He currently teaches at the Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Compliance Professionals. He is registered as the Compliance Principle (Series 14), a Municipal Principal (Series 53), a general Principal (series 24) and a Branch Office Manager (Series 9,10). He is also registered as a registered representative (series 7). |
