Robert E. Russ joined MGL in 2007 as Controller. He has more than 26 years experience in accounting and financial reporting with a diverse background in the securities, insurance, chemical storage and broadcasting industries. Prior to joining MGL, Mr. Russ served as Accounting Manager for VALIC Financial Advisors, Inc., a registered broker dealer, where he supervised and monitored the month-end and year-end financial closing process and reviewed all financial reports. He also performed similar services for another broker/dealer affiliate, American General Distributors, Inc. In this capacity, Mr. Russ reviewed quarterly FOCUS filings, monitored net capital, prepared and reviewed audit schedules, and supervised the preparation of schedules for periodic FINRA and SEC audits.During his career with VALIC, Mr. Russ also served as Commissions Processing Manager for VALIC Financial Advisors, Inc., where he supervised the prompt and accurate paying of commissions to approximately 2000 representatives nationwide and managed the input of brokerage and non-brokerage commissions into VALIC Financial Advisor’s back office system. Mr. Russ also served as Trust Accountant for VALIC’s Variable Product Accounting Division. Prior to joining VALIC, Mr. Russ served as Barter Accounting Supervisor for Metro Networks, Inc., Accounting Manager for Baytank (Houston), Inc., Statutory Accountant for American Capital Insurance, Premium Tax Accountant for Philadelphia American Life Insurance, and Auditor for the Certified Public Accounting Firm of Oppenheim, Appel, Dixon and Co. Mr. Russ is qualified as a Financial and Operations Principal with FINRA where he holds a NASD Series 27 license. He has a B.S. Accounting degree from Saint Francis College in Loretto, PA. |
