Dr. Robert E. Kahn became a Director of the Company in February 1997. Dr. Kahn is chairman, chief executive officer and president of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI), which he founded in 1986. From 1972 to 1985, Dr. Kahn was employed at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, where his last position was director of the Information Processing Techniques Office. From 1966 to 1972, Dr. Kahn was a senior scientist with Bolt Beranek and Newman, where he was responsible for the system design of the Arpanet, the first packet switched network. Dr. Kahn received numerous awards for his pioneering work on the Internet for which he received the 1997 National Medal of Technology. Dr. Kahn received a B.E.E. degree from the City College of New York and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University. Dr. Kahn holds numerous honorary degrees and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. |
