Robert E. Chism is the Chief Technology Officer for Concurrent a leader in providing on-demand systems to the broadband industry and real-time computer systems for industry and government.
Mr. Chism has more than 25 years of diverse engineering program management and marketing experience in computer and related industries with Lockheed Rockwell International General Electric Harris Computer Systems Corporation and Concurrent organizations.
Previous engineering assignments include: design of ballistic missile systems for Lockheed Missiles and Space; software design of Communication and Tracking Subsystems on the shuttle for Rockwell International; system level design of image generators; and engineering management of multiple design groups for onboard computer systems for commercial and military satellites for General Electric.
Mr. Chism joined Harris Computer Systems Division in 1993 as Director of the Simulation Business Area and initiated product strategies and alliances that positioned the Integrated Solutions Division to achieve growth in both military and commercial market segments through broader hardware and software product offerings. In 1994 Mr. Chism was promoted to Vice President of Technical and Production Operations (T&PO) of Harris Computer Systems Corporation. This was a newly formed organization that for the first time combined development and production operations.
In June of 1996 Mr. Chism was elected to the position of Vice President of Development as a result of the acquisition of Harris Computer Systems Corporation. Mr. Chism spearheaded the merging of technologies that led to the development and company focus on video-on-demand products. In January of 2002 he was promoted to Chief Technology Officer for video-on-demand. In this role Mr. Chism was responsible for driving the future technology direction and system architecture evolution for Concurrent's industry-leading VOD and IP-based digital streaming technologies. In his expanded CTO role Mr. Chism is responsible for overseeing the strategic development and introduction of new advanced applications and technologies for all product lines.
A native of Florida Mr. Chism received his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from the University of Miami in 1975 a master's degree in Business Administration from Stetson University in 1987 and has completed a variety of management training courses since 1988. |
