Robert Cullen is president and chief executive officer of Thomson Scientific & Healthcare, a leading provider of integrated information solutions for scientific researchers, physicians, and other professionals in academia, government, corporations, and healthcare. In his current position, which he assumed in November 2002, Mr. Cullen guides the strategic direction, growth and integration of the corporation’s scientific & healthcare businesses worldwide.
Since joining Thomson in 1984, Mr. Cullen has held a number of leadership positions across Thomson globally. Prior to his current role, he served as president and chief executive officer of the International Group within Thomson Learning, where he focused the business on global education and lifelong learning. His achievements in leading the International Group include the expansion of English language teaching programs through traditional print as well as innovative, technology-based methods. Earlier in his career at Learning, he spent six years based in Singapore, and also held numerous sales and marketing positions in the US and internationally. Mr. Cullen’s knowledge of the deployment of technology in education, research, and healthcare provides a valuable perspective to Thomson’s customers and partners worldwide.
Mr. Cullen holds a B.A. in economics from SUNY Buffalo. He completed coursework in University of San Francisco’s graduate school of management, as well as an executive education program at INSEAD in France. He has been active in several organizations and business ventures and spoken to a variety of associations and groups. Most recently, Mr. Cullen was named to the board of directors of the Lasker Foundation, whose goal is to increase public support for medical science and research. |
