After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University (Australia) in 1979 Rob Coombs began work as a Marketing Trainee with Carnation Foods (now part of Nestle) and progressed into Product Management. Rob left Carnation Foods in 1984 and spent the next four years as Marketing Manager with an Australian footwear manufacturer.
In 1988 Rob joined Interface in the UK as Marketing Manager for Heuga post acquisition but at a time when Interface and Heuga UK were run as separate arms of the company. In 1991 as a result of his promotion to European Marketing Manager Interface Heuga he relocated to the Netherlands.
Having left the company at the end of 1993 to return to Australia Rob rejoined Interface in 1996 as Managing Director of Interface Australia. Initially focused on manufacturing operations he then took on the additional role of Managing Director of Carpet Solutions an owned dealer which was run as a separate company.
In 1998 Rob was appointed Vice President Sales and Marketing Asia Pacific covering the Australian operations and sales and marketing in Asia. This was followed by a promotion to Senior Vice President Asia Pacific fully responsible for all of Interface's business in Asia Pacific.
Rob returned to Europe following his promotion in May 1999 to Senior Vice President European Sales. Less than a year later in April 2000 he took on the additional responsibilities for Marketing and Product Development as Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing - Europe.
In February 2001 Rob was promoted to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer Interface Europe and Asia Pacific. Interface Europe and Interface Asia-Pacific are now operated as separate and distinct divisions and in October 2002 Rob returned to Australia where he is again fully responsible for all of Interface's business in Asia Pacific. |
