Mr. Robert A. Mehl is a Managing Engineer in Exponent’s Vehicle Engineering practice. His work includes issues related to passive and active automotive occupant restraint systems and crashworthiness performance including testing and analysis of motor vehicle crashes involving passenger cars light trucks and sport utility vehicles. He specializes in mechanical design manufacturing regulatory compliance and performance issues related to automotive occupant restraint systems. His research includes analysis of automotive occupant restraint performance as it relates to air bag restraint systems. He has expertise in vehicle testing including full-scale vehicle crash tests automotive sled tests automotive component testing and automotive occupant restraint system evaluations. Mr. Mehl is familiar with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and the test protocol used to demonstrate compliance with those standards. |
