Richard M. Steinberg is the founder and a principal of Steinberg Governance Advisors, Inc., where he advises boards of directors - and their governance, audit and other committees - of Fortune 100 companies, mid-size corporations, major institutional investors and leading universities, as well as federal governmental bodies. Previously, he was a Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and was its Corporate Governance Practice Leader, where he was responsible for the design and development of PwC's corporate governance services and thought leadership, and where he advised major company boards of directors on corporate governance issues. As lead project partner, he formulated and wrote the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Internal Control -- Integrated Framework, which is the global standard of internal control, and recognized by the SEC and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board for corporate use in meeting Sarbanes-Oxley's reporting requirements

He has long been a leader in shaping professional standards, serving as chair or member of many committees and task forces of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also is the co-Founder and co-Dean PricewaterhouseCoopers-University of Delaware Corporate Governance Center Directors' College. He also serves on many other prestigious boards and councils including Conference Board's Global Corporate Governance Research Center, Corporate Board Member's Academic Council, Open Compliance & Ethics Group Executive Advisory Panel, and the GAO Forum on Governance and Accountability, among others. |
