Sir Richard joined the Board in September 2003. He was appointed Senior Independent Director on 1st September 2004. He is Chairman of Arriva plc and was previously the Executive Chairman of HM Customs and Excise from 2000 to 2003. He was formerly a member of the Group Executive Committee of Schroders plc and a non-executive Director of the Securities Institute.
