Rich joined Steel Dynamics in 2004 as its first manager of ferrous resources. In this capacity, Rich established a team and a process for SDI’s direct procurement of steel scrap and other ferrous resources. This effort has been successful, with Rich leading a group that now sources steel scrap from more than 250 vendors and acquires about 5 million tons of ferrous resources each year. In January 2006, Rich was appointed vice president of ferrous resources and logistics.
Before joining SDI, Rich had more than 10 years’ experience in the purchasing of ferrous metallics with the David L. Joseph Company, which sources steel scrap for numerous large steel companies. Rich earned a bachelor’s in business at the University of Missouri and served as an officer in the U.S. Army National Guard. |
