Richard Benson-Armer is senior vice president & chief strategy officer for The Thomson Corporation. Mr. Benson-Armer works closely with Thomson executives and customers across the corporation to identify emerging areas of opportunity, including geographic expansion and identifying new groups of knowledge workers. Mr. Benson-Armer serves as a member of the company’s Management Committee.
Prior to being named senior vice president & corporate chief strategy officer in January 2006, Mr. Benson-Armer served as senior vice president of strategic planning & business development for Thomson Learning, where he worked with business leaders in the global higher education, library reference and lifelong learning markets to define the business’ strategic direction and grow Thomson Learning.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Benson-Armer was a partner with McKinsey & Company, where he led numerous successful engagements in the areas of geographic expansion, pricing and e-commerce in the consumer goods, high technology and retail banking sectors. Before joining McKinsey, where he spent 10 years, he was responsible for corporate planning at South African Breweries and was a process engineer at Unilever.
Mr. Benson-Armer holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town, a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, and a BCommerce from the University of South Africa. |
