Richard Blackburn is the retired Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of Duke Energy Corporation, a leader in integrating electric operations, midstream gas operations, gas pipelines and energy commodity marketing. Mr. Blackburn was responsible for the company’s legal affairs, corporate planning and strategy, external affairs, government relations, human resources, ethics and compliance, and market and brand strategy. He joined Duke Energy in 1997 and retired in 2004.
Previously, Mr. Blackburn was the President and group executive for NYNEX Worldwide Communications and Media Group from 1991 to 1997, Vice President and General Counsel for New England Telephone from 1976 to 1991, and attorney for American Telephone & Telegraph from 1967 to 1976. He currently is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for George Washington University Law School, and a trustee at George Washington University and at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston.
Mr. Blackburn participated in the Harvard Advanced Management Program, earned a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University Law School, and received is Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University. |
