Richard M. Maurer is a Managing Director of Source Companies, LLC. For more than 30 years he has been actively involved in: corporate governance; formulating, financing and executing acquisitive and market-focused organic growth strategies; sourcing, analyzing, negotiating, structuring, financing, and executing corporate mergers & acquisitions; financing, capitalizing, refinancing and recapitalizing, holding, investment and operating entities; creating joint ventures, partnerships and strategic alliances; and, the executive, financial and operational management, and the integration of, these corporations, entities and alliances. Mr. Maurer also has extensive experience in rendering advisory services to family businesses and family offices, having provided sophisticated financial, investment & tax management as a senior executive for a Forbes 100 family holding company, its family members, their estates, trusts and foundations and its extensive operating and investment holdings. Mr. Maurer also serves as President of Arrow Capital Advisors, LLC, an affiliate of Source Companies that is a leading provider of monitored direct private placements for family offices and provides specialized capital raising: including, direct private placements; post-placement monitoring, reporting and market making; and advisory services to issuers of, and investors in, debt, equity and hybrid securities of segment leading, closely held and private businesses. From 1986 until recently, Mr. Maurer was a Founder and Managing Partner of WESMAR Partners Limited Partnership ("WESMAR"). Over the years, WESMAR acquired, and then provided "hands on" executive, financial and operational management for, numerous middle-market operating companies in diverse industries. For example: (a) commercial baking - ultimately ranking as the second or third largest baking supplier to McDonalds® with over one-half billion hamburger buns annually; and, (b) home improvements - ultimately ranking as the second largest home improvement company in the US prior to being sold to, and becoming the platform for, Sears® home improvement business. During the period 1978 through 1985, Mr. Maurer was a partner with, and employee of, The Hillman Company, a Pittsburgh-based multi-billion dollar holding company owned by Henry L. Hillman and members of his family. While Mr. Maurer was associated with The Hillman Company, he was intimately involved in providing sophisticated financial management for, and was the chief architect responsible for structuring the acquisition or divestiture of, (a) over 100 operating entities (including: (i) taking a number of public companies private and private companies public and (ii) the execution of multiple fragmented industry "rollups") and (b) an extensive portfolio of direct (and private equity fund) investments in leverage buyouts, venture capital, real estate, leverage leasing, natural resources and public companies. Prior to joining The Hillman Company, Mr. Maurer was a Certified Public Accountant with Price Waterhouse, serving as a Tax Manager specializing in the planning, structure and income tax implications of (a) mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and (b) substantial (public & private) holding companies. He is a member of (a) the Board of Directors of a number of companies, (b) Oakmont Country Club and (c) The Duquesne Club. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Point Park University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from The Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at The University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Maurer resides in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. |
