Richard Gray Biography :

Richard Gray has been a lawyer with Milbank since 1981 and a partner since 1990. Currently resident in New York, Mr. Gray has previously resided in the Firm's offices in Hong Kong (2000-2002), Singapore (1998-2000) and London (1985-1988).

Mr. Gray has specialized in banking transactions as a primary area of concentration for over 25 years. He has broad experience in U.S. domestic and international financial transactions, representing both lenders and borrowers, in acquisition and other leveraged financings, workouts, project finance, securitizations and other structured financings.

Recent transactions in which Mr. Gray was the lead partner include financings for the acquisitions of Maverick Tube Corporation, Grupo IMSA, RailAmerica, Florida East Coast Industries, Hydril Company, Custom Direct, CentraCore Properties Trust, Electricidad del Sur, SDI Media Group and a division of Rockwell Automation, and senior secured financings for ISP Chemco, Krispy Kreme, Foster Wheeler, The Shaw Group, Votorantim Cement North America and Carmeuse.

Mr. Gray is a frequent speaker and author on banking and related matters. Publications include "Does the Crisis Bring Default Under MAC Clauses," International Financial Law Review (April 1998); "The Asian Financial Crisis," Banking Yearbook 1998; "The Regional Impact of the Asian Financial Crisis," Banking Yearbook 1999; "Facing the Legal and Structural Issues of Cross-Border LBOs in Asia," International Financial Law Review (February 2001); and "Understanding the Credit Agreement," The Handbook of Loan Syndications & Trading (2007) (co-author).

Mr. Gray is a graduate of Harvard Law School (J.D. 1981, cum laude) and Stanford University (A.B. 1978, with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa). He is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York and is a member of the Committee on Foreign and Comparative Law of the New York City Bar Association.
