Richard I. Levin, MD, co-founded QMed and was a chief architect of the Monitor One and On-line Health Management System (ohms) algorithms. He currently serves as a consultant for and member of the Board of Directors of QMed.
Dr. Levin’s scientific interests include endothelial cell biology, the prevention of atherothrombotic events, and the role of the new information technologies in medical education. He has been awarded 4 patents for his work developing a device and system for coronary health intervention and for studies on the promotion of wound healing.
Dr. Levin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with honors from Yale University in 1970 and graduated from the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha in 1974. He was Senior Chief resident in Internal Medicine at Bellevue in 1997-98, completed a cardiology fellowship at NYU School of Medicine and then a postdoctoral fellowship in vascular biology and thrombosis at Cornell University Medical College. He has been a national board member and officer of numerous professional organizations and is currently Immediate Past President of the Heritage Affiliate of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Levin is the author of numerous papers and he has lectured widely in the United States and abroad. He is a past recipient of the Aaron Diamond Foundation Clinical Scientist Award, a Clinical Investigator Award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health, the Valentine Mott Medal, and the Esther Hoffman Beller Research Award. |
