Mr. Notebaert was elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Qwest Communications International Inc. a leading provider of broadband Internet-based data voice and image communications in June 2002. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tellabs Inc. which designs and markets equipment to providers of telecommunications services worldwide from August 2000 to June 2002 and as a Director of Tellabs from April 2000 to June 2002. He served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Ameritech Corporation a full-service communications company from April 1994 until December 1999. Mr. Notebaert first joined Ameritech Communications in 1983 and served in significant positions within the Ameritech organization before his election as Vice Chairman of Ameritech in January 1993 President and Chief Operating Officer in June 1993 and President and Chief Executive Officer in January 1994. Mr. Notebaert is a Director of Cardinal Health Inc. a Trustee of the University of Notre Dame and a member of The Business Council.
Mr. Notebaert has been an Aon director since 1998 and serves as Chairman of the Organization and Compensation Committee and as a member of the Audit Committee and Governance/Nominating Committee of our Board of Directors.
