Mr. Pfenniger Jr. is the Chairman of Continucare's Board of Directors and its President and Chief Executive Officer. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in October 2003 after having served as Chairman since September 2002.
Prior to joining Continucare as President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Pfenniger served as Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Whitman Education Group Inc. for six years until Whitman was acquired by Career Education Corporation in July 2003. Whitman was a leading provider of career-oriented higher education. As Chief Executive Officer Mr. Pfenniger oversaw the substantial turnaround of Whitman's business. During his tenure Whitman's annual revenues increased approximately 135% profitability improved significantly and its market value increased approximately 350%.
Prior to his tenure at Whitman Mr. Pfenniger was an executive officer of IVAX Corporation (a multinational pharmaceutical company) serving as its Chief Operating Officer from 1994 to 1997 and as its General Counsel from 1989 to 1994. Before joining IVAX Mr. Pfenniger was engaged in the private practice of law. |
