Dr. Richard Brown is the Dean of Engineering at the University of Utah. After receiving his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Brigham Young University, he worked in industry as Vice-President of Engineering at Holman Industries, Oakdale, California, and as Manager of Computer Development at Cardinal Industries, Webb City, Missouri. He returned to school for a Ph.D. degree at the University of Utah, and then in 1985, joined the faculty of The University of Michigan Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where he recently served as the Interim Department Chair. Dr. Brown has conducted major research projects in solid-state sensors, high performance microprocessors, and low-power systems-on-chips. He is also the founder of Sensicore, which produces solid-state chemical sensors for use in water, and a co-founder of iSens, a company that produces biomedical sensors. |
