Rich Byer is President of Bycor General Contractors, Inc., one of San Diego's leading general contractors specializing in commercial construction for a variety of clients.
Byer's construction career began while he was a student at the University of California, Berkeley, studying business administration. In 1977, after several years of hard work, he earned his B-1 contractor's license while concurrently building Bycor from the ground up. Byer's primary motivation has evolved from his desire to produce quality construction while providing a satisfying work environment for his staff. He places great emphasis on his relationship with his staff, considering them to be like family.
It was Byer's relationship as a commercial general contractor with Scott Kaats in the late 70's that brought the two together into joint venture projects, ultimately leading up to the formation of Bycor. Throughout his 18 years as president of Bycor, Byer has remained heavily involved in the management and operations of virtually every project that has passed through Bycor's doors, adding his personal touch to each job and participating in day-to-day management functions, including bidding, estimating and scheduling. Byer's belief in his staff and in the team philosophy has guided Bycor to its reputation for quality work and solid relationships with its clients.
A native of San Bernadino, Calif., Byer is active in both community and professional organizations. He is an active supporter of the YMCA, and is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (N.A.I.O.P.). Byer resides in Encinitas with his wife, Connie, and their three children, Chad, Rachel and Blake. |
