Hi! I'm Renee Kurilla, and I'm an artist here at FableVision!
I graduated from The Art Institute of Boston with a degree in illustration and diploma in graphic design. After school, I worked as a freelance illustrator for a few years, but my love of animation couldn't keep me away too long. I started my career at another Boston-based studio and followed my North Star to FableVision. In a few short years, I have designed and animated projects for Scott Foresman Publishing, PBS, The Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids, WGBH, Ragdoll, etc. And... guess what? It's FUN!
To digress a bit, my influences were and still are Disney, Pixar, and Saturday morning cartoons (back when the three characters switched heads - "After these messages... We'll be riiiiight back!").
Music is my fuel. I mostly listen, but once in a while I'll pick up my guitar.
Books are pretty great too. Among my favorites are The Tao of Pooh, Persepolis, The Catcher in the Rye, The Stinky Cheese Man, and anything by Shel Silverstein.
I also love good conversations, people who smile a TON, the month of May, Picasso, palm trees, and daisies.
In my spare time, I keep busy with new creative tasks like conquering a new sewing machine or oil painting. I try to keep things humorous, because laughing is the best part of life. Speaking of funny...ask me how I found out about FableVision. It's the most ironic turn of events that's happened in my life so far! |
