Rehan Chawdry has nearly a decade of experience in public safety and criminal justice, with an intimate understanding of the technology, systems and data-sharing standards involved. His extensive background in public safety information technology includes a comprehensive review and examination of data schema for more than two dozen law enforcement software programs. As practice leader for Sypherlink’s National Security Practice, Mr. Chawdry is responsible for ensuring that the firm’s information management solutions fully support the unique requirements of government agencies, as well as the new and evolving national data sharing standards, including the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM). Mr. Chawdry joined Sypherlink from Commsys, a leading pubic safety systems integration firm based in Dayton, Ohio, where he was manager of Operations and Software Development for the company’s products. He helped guide the strategic direction of Commsys’s core data integration products, which focused on helping public safety vendors connect to regional, state, and national systems as well as helping participants transition to various Global Justice XML (the NIEM predecessor) implementations across the country, including the Wisconsin eTIME project, Connecticut XMR deployment, and the Massachusetts CHSB XML gateway. Previously, Mr. Chawdry worked as director of Web development for Mercanti Systems in Sunnyvale, Calif. In this position, he guided the technical direction and vision for the company’s retail e-commerce fulfillment engine. He joined Mercanti Systems from Sonnett Financial in San Mateo, Calif., where he was manager of backend server systems and handled strategic integration of vendor solutions. Mr. Chawdry attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he spent two years as a cancer research assistant. Subsequently, he served as healthcare application consultant for the City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif., where he managed several information technology projects and headed up the hospital’s implementation of Clinical Source Data capture application suite. Mr. Chawdry also worked as a software engineer at Oacis Healthcare Systems in Greenbrae, Calif.
