Reggie Wells Biography :

Arizona’s sixth-round selection in the 2003 Draft, Wells was a restricted free agent following the 2005 season; Cardinals matched an offer sheet from the Buffalo Bills, resulting in the five-year deal Wells signed on 3/21/06 that keeps him under contract through 2010.

Has started the last 42 games in which he has appeared in with the Cardinals, dating back to the final game of the 2003 season.

In 2006 started all 16 games for the second time in his career (2004), with 10 starts at right tackle and six at left guard,

His 42 career starts have come at three different positions: left guard (30), right tackle (10) and left tackle (2).

Pro Career:

Arizona’s first selection in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft, Wells started every game for the Cardinals in 2004 after making his first career start in the dramatic 2003 season finale vs. Min (12/28). Started nine games for the Cardinals at left guard in 2005 before suffering a broken ankle @ Det (11/13) and was placed on the injured reserve on 11/15. A restricted free agent following the 2005 season, he remained a Cardinal when the club matched Buffalo’s offer sheet. Started all 16 games in 2006, switching between left guard and right tackle early in the season before settling in at right tackle for the final nine games.

2006: Started all 16 games and played every offensive snap while switching between left guard and right tackle throughout the season started at left guard in the season opener vs. SF (9/10) switched to his second position on the offensive line in as many weeks, starting at right tackle @ Sea (9/17) switched back to left guard vs. StL (9/24) where he stayed through the game @ Oak (10/22) switched to right tackle for the start @ GB (10/29) and would stay there for the remainder of the season helped lead Edgerrin James to his first 100-yard rushing game as a Cardinals and led the way for Marcel Shipp to run for a career high three TDs @ StL (12/3) played an inspired game after waking up with the flu and having to take intravenous fluids to play vs. Sea (12/24); led Edgerrin James to his second consecutive 115-yard performance and was part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack; for his efforts was given the game ball following the contest @ SF (12/24), helped lead James to 105 yard rushing, becoming the first Cardinals running back since Adrian Murrell in 1998 to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

2005: Continued his streak of consecutive starts for the Cardinals in 2005, starting the first nine games of the season before a broken ankle suffered @ Det (11/13) landed him on the injured reserve list on 11/15 started the first two games of the season at LG and snapped in shotgun formations in the home opener vs. StL (9/18) and @ Sea (9/25).

2004: Started at LG in each of the first 15 games of the season shifted to LT for the final game of 2004 due to an injury to Leonard Davis and was part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack vs. TB (1/2).

2003: Appeared in 15 games with one start, primarily on special teams recorded first pro start at LT in place of L.J. Shelton (ankle) vs. Min (12/28) in dramatic season ending 18-17 win prior to game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Josh McCown to Nate Poole, recovered a McCown fumble on previous play when Vikings defensive lineman Chris Hovan batted the ball away from McCown and Wells made the recovery to set up the dramatic finish.

College:

Four-year starter at Clarion (PA) State two-time NCAA Division II All-America and all-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) choice product of the school’s weight room, adding over 50 pounds to his frame after arriving on Clarion campus as a freshman father Reggie, Sr. a basketball All-America at Clarion, was inducted into the Clarion Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.

Personal:

Full name is Reggie Arness Wells attended South Park (Library, PA) High School lettered in football and basketball all-league defensive end led squad to league title by posting 13.5 quarterback sacks as a junior communications major at Clarion on February 18th, 2008, will have his college game jersey and number (58) retired at Clarion during halftime of a men’s basketball game.
