Reed Bolton Byrum, B.A., APR, Fellow, PRSA Reed Byrum is Chairman of the Byrum Innovation Group, a leading high-tech strategist and consultant in the areas of strategic marketing, public relations, and corporate communications. Prior, Mr. Byrum served as a corporate executive for a variety of companies from startups to Fortune 100 members EDS and GE Capital. And early in his career, he was an award-winning newspaper journalist and a director for Gannett during the introduction of USA TODAY. He is the Former President and CEO of the 29,000-member Public Relations Society of America, the world s largest professional society for the public relations profession. Mr. Byrum has taught the senior seminar in strategic communications at the University of Texas at Austin. During his work at UT, he advanced The Trust Factor TM, his methodology for managing and evaluating corporate reputation. He has lectured at more than 35 universities in the last five years and is a frequent speaker at professional seminars. Education runs in his blood West Virginia University s P.I. Reed School of Journalism is named after his grandfather. Mr. Byrum has been recognized by PR Week as one of the top public relations executives in high technology, and has received a career achievement award from the Austin Chapter of The Public Relations Society of America. He is a leading spokesman for the communications profession and industry about governance, ethics, high technology, and the First Amendment and has presented at the United Nations, the Global Alliance in Rome, the PR Alliance, The Conference Board, The Strategic Communications Institute, and the Donald W. Davidson Ethics Symposium at Pennsylvania State University. He has served on numerous national and regional nonprofit boards and foundations, including the founding board of the West Coast Strategic Communications Institute.
